Stephen C. Tobin is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Spanish and Portuguese Department who teaches Spanish at all levels, with recent focus on teaching Heritage Speakers. His recent upper-level courses –Spanish American Science Fiction, a panoramic overview of major movements, works and authors of the genre from the 19th century to the present, and Robots, Cyborgs and Clones in Latin American Literature and Film, which examines these iconic science fiction tropes through the lens of post-humanism and cyborg theory have been very popular with students. His current research centers around contemporary Mexican science fiction and film, focusing on representations of gender, visuality and the post-human within them.
