STE co-lead application: AY 2018-2019
The EPIC Program is now accepting faculty leads for the AY 2018-2019 Seminars in Teaching Excellence (STE). We encourage ladder faculty and full-time continuing lecturers to apply to lead one of the following STEs:
- Medical Humanities (Fall 2018)
- Environmental Humanities (Winter 2019)
- Digital Humanities (Spring 2019)
These STEs will explore the pedagogical approaches to teaching these interdisciplinary curricular tracks that are in development within the Humanities Division. These seminars will have the additional aim of developing recommendations for how each experimental track can be formally integrated into the Humanities curriculum at UCLA towards innovative and collaborative teaching.
Two co-leads for each STE will be responsible for developing the content and the scope of the seminar and for facilitating the scheduled meetings. Each faculty lead will receive $10,000 in compensation, including benefits, and one course release for the 2018-19 academic year. We welcome co-lead applicants who are interested in investigating the ways in which these curricular tracks can inform and enhance humanities study at UCLA regardless of the level of expertise on the STE topic. Due to the collaborative nature of these topics and the STEs, we also encourage faculty teams of two to apply to lead a seminar together. If you and a colleague are interested in leading an STE together, please indicate this in the application form and the cover letter. However, each individual faculty member must submit application materials separately.
Applicants must fill out the brief application form below and submit the following materials:
1. Cover letter outlining your interest and/or experience with the STE topic and a statement on your vision for the quarter-long seminar (required)
2. An updated CV (required)
3. Any other documents—i.e. sample syllabi, projects, publications, etc.—related to the STE topic (optional)
Application materials must be uploaded on or before March 2, 2018 for full consideration. For questions, please contact email@example.com.
Please note: The Urban Humanities STE will be offered during the Fall 2019 Quarter. Applications for co-leads and faculty and graduate student participants will be available during the Winter/Spring 2020 Quarters.
