Faye Qiyu Lu is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Asian Languages and Cultures at UCLA. She is broadly interested in modern Chinese and Sinophone literature, cinema, philosophy, and popular culture. Her dissertation project takes a global humanist approach to reexamine cultural texts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China during the Cold War era (1945-1989), mapping their engagement with discourses such as decolonial humanism and Marxist humanism onto the global formation process.
