Bethany Schiffman

Bethany Schiffman is in her third year of graduate studies in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at UCLA. She is working towards her Ph.D. She has a B.A. in French and Anthropology from New York University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of French and Francophone Literature, Anthropology and Sociology, Socio-Cultural Studies, and Folklore. For her dissertation she hopes to use orality and folklore to access the voice of historically silenced groups.She is also deeply committed to teaching and is working towards the UCLA Graduate Certificate in Writing Pedagogy.
