Wade Fulton Dean is a PhD Candidate within the Department of Musicology at the University of California, Los Angeles. A native of Orangeburg South Carolina, jazz musician, and composer, his research and teaching interests includes the interplay between popular culture, music making and their relationship to Black socio-political life.
