An EPIC Small Changes, Big Impact Workshop

EPIC cordially invites you to “Using Video to Enhance Classroom Learning”, a part of the Small Changes, Big Impact Workshop Series (SCBI). EPIC’s signature Small Changes, Big Impact is a set of workshops on inclusive and equitable teaching practices that can be easily implemented in class with minimal preparation either synchronously or asynchronously. This workshop is designed for instructors who wish to incorporate video and other forms of media in their teaching. Participants will learn how to supplement existing course content by incorporating video, and give students more opportunities to create media for their assignments, help build upon their background knowledge on a topic, and promote critical thinking in content-related activities. For language instructors specifically, we will also demonstrate language classroom video activities and show how they can be used in the three modes of communication. These strategies will draw on theories of active learning, universal design for learning (UDL), and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBL). All instructors and TAs are encouraged to attend.
