Small Changes, Big Impact Workshop Series: Transparent Teaching
Los Angeles, CA 90095 United States + Google Map
A Special Invitation to Humanities Faculty
This workshop will allow faculty members to ensure equitable access to education, which is among the core objectives of the requirement to include an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion statement in merit and promotion cases.
Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) is an approach to teaching that facilitates student understanding of how and why they are learning course content. This interactive workshop will introduce instructors to the TILT method through small but impactful interventions on assignment design. Workshop participants will revise low and high-stakes assignments towards greater transparency to promote equity and student accountability for their own learning. The TILT method of creating transparent and problem-centered assignments has a proven track-record of instilling self-confidence in and ensuring the success of historically underserved and underrepresented students.
Seating is limited and early RSVP is encouraged. Lunch will be provided.
